About Joel Shurkin

An award-winning science writer and historian, I have taught journalism at Stanford, UC Santa Cruz and the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I was on the team that won a Pulitzer Prize at the Philadelphia Inquirer and covered the space program for Reuters, including the moon landings. I was a war correspondent for UPI in the Dominican Republic and covered the after-math of the Six Day War from Jerusalem. I have published nine books on science, medicine, and history of science, including three biographies.Specialties: Science, medicine, history of science.
