About Joel Pontius
With my experience in educational leadership in higher education, K-12, nonprofit, and informal learning environments, I am passionate about promoting environmental sustainability, conservation, and social responsibility through learning and leadership development. Throughout my career, I have developed and demonstrated skills in relationship-building, communication, storytelling, systems thinking, mentorship, and leadership across cultures, places, and political perspectives. I am also a published author, speaker, and consultant on topics related to conservation, sustainability, food systems, place-based learning, and environmental ethics.As an Editor at Springer Nature Group, I oversee a book series that explores environmental discourses in science education, featuring diverse perspectives and narratives from authors around the world. In addition, I serve as a Member Board of Directors at Ecology Project International, a non-profit organization that engages youth in conservation projects and experiential education in ecologically critical areas.
