ABOUT JOELL ANGEL-CHUMBLEY

Her multi-disciplinary focus seeks to connect research and insights, brand strategy, and user-centric design. She has served as full-time faculty at Mount St. Joseph University, and adjunct faculty at the University of Cincinnati DAAP and Miami University Oxford. She currently serves on the SEGD National Board, SEGD Academic Task Force (Chair), and the DAAP Alumni Board. Joell is also a practicing studio artist at the Pendleton Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH.As the Supervising Lead of Experiential Design at the City of Cincinnati - Department of Transportation + Engineering, Division of Architecture + Urban Design Section, Joell leads the vision, strategy, design, and implementation of multiple public projects, transforming 52 city neighborhoods through public engagement workshops, placemaking, and civic branding. She was formerly a Creative Director and Art Program Lead at Kolar Design, guiding the vision, strategy, and implementation of local and national projects that connect people, places, and brands. As the Art Program Lead, Joell assisted with the curation and artist selection of over original artworks, as well as the facilitation/oversight of community art engagement workshops. Joell received a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Cincinnati (DAAP), School of Art, area of Fibers and 3D studies; and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Mount St. Joseph University.Joell’s multi-disciplinary experience has awarded her local, regional, and national mention in various publications including: SEGD Communication + Place, SEGD Messages, Festival Graphics, Urban Identities, City Signs, Designer Greeting Cards, and Cincinnati Magazine. Recent works have exhibited both regionally and nationally including Northern Kentucky University Galleries¬ – Alexandria, KY, Studio 2108: Art + Spirit ¬– Louisville, KY, Zanesville Art Center – Zanesville, OH, Florida Gulf Coast University Library Gallery – Fort Myers, FL, Chico Art Center – Chico, CA, Weston Art Gallery – Cincinnati, OH, and Clifton Cultural Arts Center – Cincinnati, OH.
