District Energy steam system operators spend countless hours dealing with the fallout from flooding events. This no longer has to be the case when Pyrogel is protecting steam lines.Almost all insulation products cannot withstand the abuse from being fully submerged in water. The results are piles of destroyed insulation on the bottom of vaults and tunnels. This causes inefficiency and safety hazards. Steam escaping the underground system makes its way to surface, putting bystanders at risk. Operators must then replace the insulation, only to have to repeat this vicious cycle each time there is another event.Pyrogel alleviates having to deal with the fallout. It’s hydrophobicity protects it from absorbing water and ending up at the bottom of vaults and tunnels. It is quick drying, tough, and allows you to focus on other tasks at hand due to its resiliency.
