Member of East Bay alternative-indie band Whalefall. As a guitarist and bassist for Whalefall, I contribute to the musical landscape of the six-piece band ranging from my own jazz, emo, indie, punk, and classic rock influences. With our first release on streaming platforms I aided in establishing intellectual property in the online music sphere as well as overall brand identity in design. Further collaboration with Berkeley’s student label Public School Records has promoted and published Whalefall with a global count of monthly listeners.

ABOUT JOEL CARRILLO
Hi, I\'m a current junior at UC Berkeley majoring in architecture with a minor in structural engineering. As a student and designer I have had the privilege to be involved in a range of cultural intersections. From lived experience of America’s various architectural landscapes to late night jazz gigs throughout the east bay, I have been provided with the spectrum of life amongst the built environment. I ultimately want to add to this scope of design in times that continue to devalue architecture and ignore the building blocks of our pressingly environmental future.
