ABOUT JOEL A. KAUFMANN

Energy law and policy is my passion because it provides the opportunity to continuously learn, to resolve complex problems, and to help improve our community as we transition to clean energy. My interest in the clean energy revolution began as an undergraduate at the University of Nevada, where I graduated with an emphasis in International Energy and Environmental Policy. During the 80th Session of the Nevada State Legislature, I was a registered lobbyist for over twenty clients ranging from nonprofits and government agencies to Fortune 100 companies. I developed legal research and writing skills by preparing legislative reports, advice letters, and policy proposals. I frequently covered issues related to energy and environmental law in Nevada. My three years as a lobbyist taught me the responsibility of representing client interests and the value of contributing to a team. During my time as a law student at the University of San Diego, I continued my interest in energy environmental law graduating with an emphasis in Energy and Environmental Law. Additionally, I served as the Chief Articles Editor for the San Diego Journal of Climate and Energy Law. I gained a unique insight into the operations of the California Energy Commission by serving as their extern at the Energy Policy Initiatives Center. When I\'m not working, I enjoy yoga, fly fishing, and cooking. I look forward to connecting with you!
