About Joel Rogers
Appointed Associate Deputy Attorney General for Child Support Legal Services in July, 2019. In this role I have oversight responsibility over all legal activities undertaken in over 1.5 million child support cases across Texas and I supervises the legal work of all 300+ Assistant Attorneys General working for the Child Support Division of the Office of the Attorney General. Since 2011, I’ve also served as the legislative attorney for the Child Support Division, representing the agency at the State Capitol and frequently testifying as a resource witness before various committees in the Texas Legislature on family law issues.From 20••••19, I served as Associate Deputy Director for Policy & Legislation, coordinating policy development and supervising the Child Support Division’s appellate attorneys. Prior to that, from 20••••18, I served as Assistant Deputy Director for Field Legal Practice, supervising all legal work of 240 Assistant Attorneys General in 58 Child Support Division field offices across Texas. I started work as an Assistant Attorney General in 1995 and have appeared in courts across Texas and have worked in various legal and management roles in locations across the state during the last 30 years. I’m licensed to practice law in Texas and in New Mexico. I received my Juris Doctor from George Washington University Law School in 1992 and my B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1989.
