About Joel Prager

I’m a VFX Supervisor and Generalist with over 20 years of experience delivering high-end visual effects for major studio features, collaborating closely with filmmakers from previz through to final delivery, always with a focus on supporting and enhancing the story.My career began at DNEG in London, where I progressed through a range of roles, from Matchmove Supervisor to Lookdev and Lighting, then Sequence Supervisor, and ultimately CG Supervisor. During that time, I contributed to blockbuster features including The Dark Knight, Iron Man 2, Man of Steel, and The Fate of the Furious. I later moved production-side, starting as a data wrangler and eventually supervising in-house teams and main unit shoots, giving me a rare perspective on both vendor and studio workflows.I bring a deep understanding of the full VFX process, from previz and shoot supervision, through to postviz, lighting, comp, and final delivery. My recent work includes supervising previz, postviz and final sequences on Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for Paramount, where I also led the design of a scalable in-house pipeline and contributed to main unit VFX supervision.At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to storytelling. Whether supervising a shoot, designing a pipeline, or reviewing shots with a team, I focus on how VFX can support narrative clarity, emotional tone, and directorial intent.
