ABOUT JOEL POMEROY

I’ve been honing my craft of visual storytelling for half my life. A Northeast Portland native, my career began over 25 years ago in NYC chasing human rights activists and social justice champions around the globe, shooting and producing content for issue awareness campaigns and feature documentaries about progressive causes. After becoming a father, I began learning the world of marketing agency life by producing content for a life sciences agency, interviewing doctors and scientists for 5 years, before returning home to Portland, OR.After 6 years producing, writing, and directing at Funnelbox, I co-purchased the company, and as CEO and head of creative have been on a journey to shape Funnelbox into the instrument of change in the production industry that we’ve envisioned it to be from the start. Ever since, we’ve focused on creating opportunities and access for folks often shut out of this exclusive story-telling space, while building a culture and organizational base of wisdom that can support a diverse team of creatives on their own journeys in film/video production. All while serving the communication needs of our local community of nonprofits alongside the kinds of companies and teams of marketers who share our values, and want to tell their own stories in the most compelling way—through thoughtful, captivating video and animation.The results have been overwhelmingly affirming. We were certified as a B Corp in 2022, and have built a book of sustainable business with allies and industry partners who share our commitment to creating justice & equity in this space. And we make truly beautiful stuff. We give people goosebumps with marketing videos.
