I am an experienced creative professional with a demonstrated history of working in successful leadership, skilled in mechanical technology, coaching, creative writing, digital media, project management, and psychology relating to learning.I have been a long-time advocate of safe practices. I believe that best safety practices come from education, engagement, and earned trust. Having worked simultaneously as law enforcement and construction project manager for Utah Correctional Industries, I have led teams to gain experience and perpetuate safe workspaces. During my time at the State Capitol Building, I was responsible for teaching skills and enforcing safety according to OSHA CFR 29 standards in a high visibility situation where the public would interact with our worksites daily. Personal protective equipment, beginning of shift and end of shift training, air quality control (set to asbestos abatement standards), and tool control kept the public and my team from harm while on site.When I joined the Tyson Team, I learned how important it is to be informed and do the job right. Working again with the OSHA CFR 29 standards, I was awarded further knowledge in chemical safety, HAZMAT, and USDA standards as I took on the responsibility of PSM committee member. I learned the importance of what it means when they say, “slow is safe and safe is fast.”My most significant education came in the form of experience working closely with the MentalHealth Offender Therapy unit while employed with Adult Probation and Parole. While there, I was able to get a close look into the cognitive behaviors and resulting decisions of the criminalexperience, including interaction with survivors of abuse and trauma. Many of these people Iworked with found ways to maintain positive outlooks despite egregious circumstances, and Iobserved to learn from that example. As a project manager and teacher for Utah CorrectionalIndustries, I was able to use that knowledge to help inmates work effectively and efficiently witheach other despite extreme social barriers. Upon returning to the private sector, I have been able to successfully apply what I have learned to accel in various leadership positions, and I hope tocontinue learning and leading in real situations.I like to bring a positive mindset to any situation and encourage others to be the same.
