About Joel Cockrell
I am an illustrator with over 10 years of experience in the industry. I have illustrated for picture books, kids curriculum, kids magazines, animated series, trade books, young adult fiction, educational resources, and more. I have been published both nationally and internationally, and I am always eager to explore new opportunities and challenges. I also have a passion for teaching and sharing my skills and knowledge with the next generation of illustrators and designers. I teach illustration and design at the university level both residentially and online. I am proficient in using various tools and software, such as Adobe CC, Procreate, Fresco, traditionally studio art skills, and graphic design skills as well. I am an active member of SCBWI, and attend their gatherings both regional and national. When I am not hunched over my desk drawing, I love spending time outdoors with my wife and our 11-year-old couch dog, Rosa. We enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and running in the beautiful nature of Franklin, TN. I am always looking for new problems to solve and new ways in which my skills can serve others.
