As the Deputy Chief Building Official (DCBO) I play a critical leadership role in the Building Division, overseeing the enforcement of building codes, standards, and regulations while supporting the Chief Building Official (CBO) in ensuring the safety, integrity, and compliance of construction projects. I have a blend of technical expertise, strong leadership abilities, and an in-depth understanding of building codes, regulations, and enforcement procedures.Key Responsibilities:Policy Development & Implementation: Collaborate with the CBO to develop and implement division policies, goals, and objectives to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of building code enforcement services.Code & Regulation Expertise: Review and provide recommendations to the CBO on proposed and existing building codes, standards, regulations, and ordinances. Clear understanding of evolving industry trends and legal changes in building codes and regulations.Budget & Resource Management: Assists in preparing and administering the division’s budget. Monitors expenditures, allocates resources, and ensures financial efficiency within the division.Training & Staff Development: Designs and implements training programs to ensure consistent application of building codes and standards by staff. Provides mentorship and performance evaluations to the building inspectors and other staff members.Supervision & Performance Management: Oversee the hiring, training, evaluation, and development of building inspection staff. Construction Document Review: Analyzes complex commercial and residential construction plans to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.Extensive Knowledge of Building Codes & Regulations: Advanced understanding of local, state, and national building codes, zoning laws, safety regulations, and energy efficiency standards.
