About Joel Boggan
I am a hospitalist at Durham VA Medical Center, where I also lead and participate in quality improvement projects across both the inpatient and outpatient settings and oversee QI and Patient Safety education and projects involving residents in the Internal Medicine Residency Program of DukeHealth. As part of my administrative role, I interpret national VA quality metrics for our facility. My current QI projects include work on readmissions, hospital-acquired infections, clinical documentation improvement, and optimization of chronic kidney disease and cardiovascular disease management and referral patterns. I also serve as the lead mentor for our VA Chief Resident in Quality and Safety, a national VA program training leaders in quality improvement, and Program Director for the Duke University Hospital Chief Resident in Quality and Safety. I also serve as co-course director for our Quantitative Medical Decision-Making MS3 course and a small-group leader for a longitudinal MS2 course on case-based clinical management. If you are a potential applicant to the Duke Internal Medicine Residency Program, please note our official policy regarding contact with applicants:\"Thank you so much for reaching out!
