Lead engineer of a Python-based distributed toolchain for global basemaps. Coordinated product development and oversaw engineering efforts, as well as managing a team of engineers. Developed color correction methods via machine learning to produce appealing results that retain image quality at all scales. Conceived of, developed, and deployed novel image normalization methods in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders leading to launch of a new product. Adapted proprietary processing methods to produce unique data products for academic partners working on coral reef monitoring, deforestation, and carbon stock estimation to shape environmental policy. Re-architected the basemaps pipeline to produce visually pleasing seamless global imagery while reducing costs by ~5X.
