   The RE is the technical leadership in a commercial nuclear plant design modification engineering project who is responsible for coordinating multiple engineering disciplines to deliver the full contracted scope in accordance with the client’s (the utility) processes and procedures. The RE works closely with AREVA project management and serves as the single technical interface between the client’s project leadership and AREVA engineering / licensing. Fundamentally, the RE is responsible for owning the entire contracted deliverable and must remain cognizant of the state of the design effort for all disciplines at all times. This includes resource oversight and support, knowing how, where, and when to pull in additional support from the plant or AREVA, working directly with resource management for all disciplines, coordinating training, acknowledging resource achievements, and even protecting resources from the unnecessary amidst client demands. The RE must understand what the client\'s expectations are for each deliverable (i.e. 30%, 70%, final, etc.), ultimately populating the content of the Engineering Change (EC) or Design Change (DC) package which includes the primary write-up, all engineering design documents, all content added to the EC database, technical data added or changed in the equipment database, and the various forms and administrative tasks that are required to accompany the EC/DC. The RE is responsible for keeping AREVA project management and the client informed of all the relevant project details and issues, knowing the tremendous amount of tribal knowledge that the client operates under, and ensuring safety, quality, performance, delivery, transparency, reputation is maintained, scope boundaries do not creep, and that all parties communicate effectively at all times.
