Scouted from my Duty Manager role at JD Gyms Llanishen to take on the Assistant General Manager position in Newport, where I effectively run the club’s day-to-day operations under the guidance of our Senior General Manager.Key responsibilities: • Operational management: stock control (cleaning & vending), rota planning, enforcing gym standards, and managing disciplinary actions. • Recruitment & leadership: interviewing, hiring, and developing a motivated team to deliver business success. • Sales & member experience: driving performance while ensuring excellent service and smooth daily operations. • Marketing & content: managing the club’s social media presence, including planning campaigns, writing scripts, filming, and editing content to engage members and grow brand visibility. • Coaching & classes: leading “X-Fit” sessions - JD’s functional/hybrid group training - and creating a strong sense of community on the gym floor.This role has given me the opportunity to operate at a General Manager level, balancing people leadership, operations, marketing, and member engagement to deliver measurable results for the club.
