Joined Network Rail’s North West & Central Route with the Works Delivery Civils West Midlands B Department as a Trainee Structural Examiner. I completed training and was under mentorship to carry out a wide variety of examinations on different types of structures on the railway infrastructure such as bridges, retaining walls, culverts, gantries, signals etc. This incorporated report writing, highlighting existing/new defects, using computer design software and providing photographic evidence. January 2026, I became a fully qualified structures examiner holding the STE4 competency in examination of masonry, concrete, timber and metallic structures and BSE competent (bridge strike examination).
