Until the company entered administration in April 2025, I was the sole Buyer at Amherst Homes for 8 years, based in Saffron Walden, Essex. Developments were typically between 6-35 plots, comprising 3-4 bedroom high specification houses. Amherst were an award-winning developer building luxury new homes in Essex, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. I was responsible for the procurement of all superstructure materials and plant required for new build houses; providing regular cost reports to the Quantity Surveyor to ensure projects were within budget. I assisted the QS with material take-offs, valuations and orders such as muckaway and aggregate imports that had been itemised and removed from the sub-contracted groundworks package.
