ABOUT JOE HOLLENDONER

Values-driven public health leader and social justice advocate who has committed nearly 25 years of service to the LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS movements. Strong manager possessing significant experience managing multimillion-dollar nonprofit, healthcare and government agencies, developing and implementing effective strategic plans, collaborating with community partners, and raising funds from individuals, institutions, and government agencies. Visionary who balances being bold with being solution-oriented and results-driven, always acting with integrity and authenticity. Change-maker with successful track record of building and partnering with effective boards and leadership teams, developing workforces that are diverse and inclusive, and transforming workplaces so that they operate efficiently.My Values:Relationships. I believe it is through relationships that we not only grow as individuals but advance our cause. Whether it be with staff, donors, the community, or Board members, developing deep and trusting relationships is always a priority for me.Service. My life’s mission is to give back to my community all that I have received. Related to service, for me, is a commitment to hard work and always acting with integrity.Justice. I must use the opportunities I have because of my privilege and positional power I have to advance equality for all. This means using my privilege as a white person to dismantle institutional racism and anti-Blackness.Balance. Finding balance especially in hard times is important. Whether that balance is sought in the perspectives we take, how we spend our time, or the teams we build - it is worth pursuing. What is especially important for me is a recognition that movement work is hard so offsetting it with joy and humor allows for a balancing that makes leadership sustainable.
