Manchester, GB

I manage and grow Matillion’s online communities, creating spaces where users connect, share knowledge, and influence product direction. I run the Matillion Ideas Portal and public roadmap, driving customer engagement and product enhancements. I organise user groups and represent the brand at industry events, while partnering with vendors to deliver new features and keep the community running smoothly. Blending creativity with data, I strengthen relationships, boost engagement, and showcase the value of the Matillion ecosystem.

ABOUT JOE FARRAR

I’m a multi-skilled Community & Social Media professional with a knack for building connections, sparking conversations, and turning ideas into impact. My career has taken me from launching Matillion’s first online communities to managing high-energy social campaigns — including the viral #DogSelfie, which raised millions for Manchester Dogs Home. With a BA (Hons) in Film & Moving Image, I’ve worked on everything from award-winning animation (The Bride of Vernon) to video blogs and brand storytelling. Creativity runs through everything I do, whether it’s designing a campaign, moderating a forum, or organising events. Outside of work, I keep myself busy running a community incentive (handling socials, fixtures, and the occasional fundraising party), belting out tunes as a former band vocalist/manager, and cheering on Manchester United. I’m also a proud dad of two, so family time, football kickabouts, and live gigs are all part of my world. Community is at the heart of who I am. I founded Happy Somedays, supporting over people annually across Manchester, and I regularly volunteer on litter-picking and green space clean-up projects. Whether it’s online or offline, I believe in the power of people coming together to do good things. When I’m not building communities, you’ll probably find me gaming, at a quiz night, or planning my next project.
