ABOUT JOE DICKINSON
I am an incoming PhD student at the University of Cambridge, where I\'ll be researching electron crystallography and its applications in pharma, under the supervision of Prof Paul Midgley and in collaboration with AstraZeneca.I graduated from the University of Bristol with an MSci in Chemistry (First Class Honours: 82% overall). Highlights at Bristol include: my final-year project on method development for compound-specific radiocarbon analysis; an RSC-funded undergrad research project on organic photoredox catalysts; teaching first-year chemistry students as a PASS Leader before progressing to Senior PASS Leader, overseeing a team of educators.After graduating, I worked at the Drug Control Centre, King’s College London, the UK’s only WADA-accredited anti-doping lab. After quickly progressing to a confident analyst, I was entrusted with leading the IRMS team, responsible for the development and validation of a novel workflow, as well as the training of other analysts. Beyond chemistry, I\'ve worked across diverse roles, from instructing water sports to teaching English as a second language. I am determined and excited to continue building a successful career in the chemical sciences.
