ABOUT JOE DARLING
Qualified Person and Quality professional inspired by improving the quality of medicines manufactured. Over 35 years of industry experience in QA, QC and Validation.As site quality head at NextPharma Edinburgh I am part of the site SLT and responsible for departments looking after Quality Assurance including regulatory interactions. Quality Control who test and certify all finished products also test incoming raw materials, check equipment cleanliness and verify the facility via EM. The analytical development and validation departments also report to my role encompassing equipment, facility and method validation. I am also a QP, qualifying under the permanent provisions in 2009. I look after a group of fellow QPs onsite mainly full time individuals but also contractors. The entire Quality team onsite constitutes 60+ individuals in a multitude of roles. Prior to Encap/Capsugel/Lonza/NextPharma which is really one continuous employment my main experience was in Pharma QC and validation both with traditional chemistry and also biotech experience. A small diversion into radiation and reactor chemistry at Rosyth dockyard fills out the experience mix.
