I’m proud to say I’m not your typical financial advisor. While I love to geek out with investment research and analysis, I recognize that helping someone to retire takes a lot more than just good investments. With over two decades of experience focused on helping group retirement plans like 401(k), 403(b), 457, pensions and ESOPs, my team and I strive to be the leaders plan sponsors count on and we are often the first to educate and inspire employees to start saving for retirement. Let me share the reason why I do what I do. I grew up on a farm in a family of 10 kids and didn’t have much money then. I put myself through college and couldn’t wait to make a difference through work. Richard was my mentor at my first job out of college, and he inspired me to start saving 15% of my pay in the 401(k) as soon as I became eligible to participate. “Joe, this is how much you need to save over your working career to retire someday. If you start saving this much now, you won’t miss the money – you’ve never made more money in your life than now!” His advice was spot-on. The nudge he gave me was timely and more helpful than I imagined then. A few years later I made my way into the retirement plan industry to do for others what Richard did for me. I have built a great team with a common passion for helping employers build successful retirement plans and employees to make smart financial decisions in balance for their current and future needs. Our approach is built on a profoundly simple three-dimensional service process:1. We align the plan sponsor and employees in the appropriate direction to achieve their values and goals;2. We aim to design what the plan sponsor and employees need; and3. We proactively work to move the plan sponsor and employees ahead with positive action. Alignment, Design and Action – Sounds simple, right? It should be, but it’s not always easy. The “devil is in the detail” and that is where we bring a lot of value. Every employer and employee have unique objectives and challenges. We incorporate those into our process where everything has an order, relation and meaningful purpose to driving the outcomes plan sponsors and employees want. Success does not happen by accident.
