About Jody Parmann
I’m an artist, illustrator, and designer with almost two decades of experience in graphic design. I co-owned Raven Café in Port Huron, MI, where I managed marketing and aesthetics. I turned our cafe into an immersive Edgar Allan Poe experience, complete with elegant menu redesigns and captivating social media content that kept our audience engaged. Before Raven Café, I founded and led Muse Creative Design from 2005 to 2017. At Muse, I managed a talented team and provided top-notch graphic design services to small and medium-sized businesses in St. Clair County. Our work made a significant impact on the local market, and I’m proud of the creative solutions we delivered. My journey also includes a stint as an Advertising Designer at the Times Herald, where I crafted compelling ads for local businesses and set the visual tone for new publications. Additionally, I taught Communication Design as a Professor at St. Clair County Community College, blending theory with hands-on creativity to ensure my students received a well-rounded education. I\'ve also been actively involved in my community, serving on the Port Huron Downtown Development Authority Board, contributing as Vice Chair of the Blue Water Arts Committee, and mentoring young designers in FIRST Robotics. These roles have allowed me to use my graphic design skills to support local initiatives and promote the arts. On the technical side, I’m proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and digital platforms like Buffer, Canva, and WordPress. I love working with various mediums, from clay and pen & ink to digital art, and I’m always exploring new ways to merge art and technology.
