Executing the vision and strategy for ‘common metadata’, a pan-BBC movement to see content from across all the BBC\'s products tagged with a common language and approach, and rolling out its adoption across the business. Leading a transformation in the way the BBC understands and describes the content it makes, in order to better understand and serve its audiences through personalised recommendations, algorithmic curation and audience insights Creating a shared understanding among editorial, product and engineering, of the value of describing content well, and sat on a pan-BBC governance body Leading a multi-disciplinary agile product development team, including engineers, testers, UX and data science Built a common tagging tool to describe any content (BBC or otherwise) and to be shared across all BBC workflows and stages of production Developed a scalable data service, along with APIs and pipelines to translate domain-specific metadata into ‘common metadata’
