ABOUT JODY HAYDEN

Currently chief steward and owner of Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate in lovely Empire, Michigan. I\'ve devoted my entire career to improving the specialty coffee and chocolate industries in the small ways that I can. In 2001, I co-founded Michigan’s first fair trade coffee roaster, Higher Grounds Trading Co, and served several terms on the Board of Directors of Cooperative Coffees, a unique green bean importing cooperative of mission-driven coffee roasters throughout the United States and Canada. I have led over 30 consumer delegations to coffee and cacao growing regions in Central America, South America and Africa. I currently serve on the Board of Directors of the Heirloom Cacao Preservation Fund, advisor to the Ecuador Cacao and Chocolate Summit, and I volunteer with several local non-profits in my hometown. I live in Traverse City, Michigan with my husband, DC, and two young boys, Charlie & Arlo.
