ABOUT JO DOVER

I am an experienced trainer who has over 27 years experience working with victims of terrorism, mental health, support, and resilience issues. I am also a Project Advisor for the EU Centre of Expertise for Victims of Terrorism, led by Victim Support Europe and have been providing consultancy services on victims of terrorism issues to the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism and UN Office on Drugs and Crime on various programmes and projects since 2018. I offer Trauma Informed and Resiliency Focused courses on responding to the immediate, medium and long term issues following terrorism and mass violence.I have worked with people across the world affected by political violence since 1998, including former armed forces personnel, and civilians who have been bereaved, injured by and witnessed acts of terrorism and other conflicts.I have provided training and consultancy to many different organisations in the Emergency Planning, Resilience and Humanitarian Assistance field and also to the public, corporate and third sector.In 2014 the University of Liverpool awarded me Honorary Research Associate status in recognition of my work and I was appointed a Fellow of the Institute of Welfare in 2017.I am a confident and committed professional, experienced in working at both strategic and delivery levels and I am passionate about improving education around victims of terrorism, stress management, self-care, mental health and wellbeing, welfare and building resilience. I am also an author and co-editor for academic books on conflict and victims.
