About Jodi Southwick

I am an apartment data expert and apartment locating software creator. I am the CEO of Rental Advisors and the creator of Locator IDX. I started my commercial real estate career at CB Richard Ellis in 1997 where I managed massive databases for the portfolio services team. It was a natural fit. Commercial brokers rely heavily on data to drive sales and so my love for data and my love for real estate was born. I formed Rental Advisors in 2005 in Houston, TX. I created and launched an Apartment MLS for apartment locators in 2006. We grew our first Apartment MLS for ten years (20••••15) and expanded into Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Denver, Phoenix, Atlanta, Birmingham, and Charlotte. In 2016 we redesigned our products to focus on website tools to help apartment locators generate leads and we started building sophisticated apartment locating websites. In 2023 we’ve grown our Apartment MLS to thirty-four major markets. Our product line includes apartment data feeds, apartment maps, online rental leads, and apartment locating business strategies. After 18 years in the business, I’m still obsessed with my job and helping apartment locators make more money in real estate.

   The National Association of Apartment Locators was formed in 2011 as a non-biased advocacy group for the apartment locating industry. Our mission is to provide the apartment industry with confidence in working with our locator members, by operating our individual companies by a strict Code of Ethics. NAAL members are committed to ethical business practices by agreeing to our nine-step membership approval process which protects apartment communities from illegal locating companies.
