Dr. Roure has conducted extensive research in the area of human rights including violence against women in Brasil, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, and the United States. Her doctoral dissertation is titled International Human Rights Law as a Resource in Combating Domestic Violence: Transcending Legal, Social and Cultural Obstacles in Brasil and the United States. She is also an expert witness on domestic violence cases and works with global law firms in this capacity. She consults governments and provides talks and training a at the United Nations in NYC, The Hague -the International Criminal Court and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia- and Geneva.Jodie Roure is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Latin American and Latinx Studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY. She founded and directs the Rising Scholars of Justice Program (formerly John Jay College Ronald H. Brown Law School Prep Program) and the JJC Director of the University of Houston Law School Prep Program. She consults educational institutions as well as law schools across the US and Latin America on creating pipeline education programs.
