About Jodi Jacobson
Currently Senior Director, Foundation Relations, and Senior Donor Advisor, Movement Voter Project and Movement Voter Fund. Advisor/Mentor to small nonprofits. Career: Mission and values-driven leader. Non-profit founder and executive director, advocate, lobbyist, policy analyst, writer, and fundraiser with an entrepreneurial mindset and a track record of building successful organizations, publications, and departments from the ground up. My career has been rooted in public health, human rights, and democracy, and progressive political organizing/movements for justice both internationally and domestically. I\'ve managed large coalitions and worked with doctors, researchers, advocates, healthcare providers, elected officials, government administrators, policymakers, international agencies and the media in the United States and many other countries. I have issue expertise in HIV and AIDS, public health, human rights, reproductive and sexual justice (including abortion, contraception), and in environmental issues. I lead with values and have always sought to ensure the people with whom I worked had good salaries and benefits, well above the average. From through 2019, I raised well over $60 million to support two organizations of which I was, variously, founder and executive director, and president and editor in chief. During that time, I also hired and managed more than 200 professional staff, successfully building core capacities in finance and operations, data collection and management, communications, research, lobbying, advocacy, audience engagement and constituency outreach. In late 2019, I joined Movement Voter Project; between April 2020 and February 2023, have raised roughly $40 million for grassroots organizing movements. I\'ve worked as a consultant to numerous organizations and foundations. In the past, as part of my prior work, I was quoted extensively in the Lancet, BMJ, and The Economist and national daily news media including the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal. I also served as a member of several UN Expert Committees. Awards from American Public Health Association, Planned Parenthood, and Abortion Care Network, among others. Core skills: Strategic vision and strategic planning; donor cultivation and engagement; writing, reporting, editing; fundraising; convening; staff development and management; mentoring; solving problems and meeting challenges. I am a lifelong and avid learner with an entrepreneurial approach, combining strategic vision backed up by practical plans for reaching ambitious goals.
