ABOUT JODE ROBERTS
I’m a community catalyst, civic storyteller and placemaking collaborator working at the intersections of art, ecology and public space. With over 20 years leading national campaigns, participatory art projects and creative placemaking efforts, I specialize in reimagining how people connect—with nature, with each other, and with the places they live. At the David Suzuki Foundation, I lead the Rewilding Communities program and projects like the Butterflyway Project and the Rewilding Arts Prize. My work has sparked joy and engagement in communities throughout Canada, from pollinator-filled laneways to national exhibitions. I also co-curate Gallery 1065, a new Toronto art gallery, and create civic art interventions through the Toronto Sign Reimagination Unit—satirical signage that disrupts routine with subtle, joyful interventions in the public realm. Whether launching citywide programs or installing guerrilla street art, I bring creativity, strategy, and humour to the work of building vibrant, inclusive communities. Rewilding cities Making art public Telling powerful stories Lending party supplies (yes, really) Let’s make cities more alive, connected and joyful.
