About Jeannene Oconnell
I prepare and maintain Individualized Education Plans, reviewed psych evaluations to provide general education teachers with necessary accommodations for special needs students in the general education and self contained setting, administer re-evaluation testing, identify and recommend placement for special needs students to ensure an appropriate education in the least restrictive environment. I collaborate with colleagues across the curriculum to provide accurate modifications in the resource setting that directly align with Common Core Standards. I have effectively supported students impacted by emotional and behavioral disorders, developmental disabilities, specific learning disabilities, autism, mild to severe intellectual disabilities and physical disabilities. Ann Lang, parent of a former student has stated in her reference letter, “Her ability to connect with children is a tremendous gift she realizes personally and utilizes daily with students through intense passion and compassion. She is an extremely powerful asset to any educational setting and most importantly, she shapes children in need brilliantly through her non-stop personal dedication.” As an administrator, I have participated and collaborated to create a school improvement plan that increased student achievement on statewide assessments and supported students\' growth and development across the curriculum. I design curriculums that support individual student needs and include research-based strategies to monitor student progress (Response to Intervention). I create and maintain Individualized Education Plans, facilitate re-evaluations, conduct well-organized annual meetings, and provide parents with information and resources to improve their knowledge of their child with special needs. Teaching is my passion!
