Acting as Heartland’s primary subject matter expert in AML/CFT, providing strategic leadership across core governance functions and centralised operational activities to ensure compliance with regulatory expectations and alignment with best practices.Key Responsibilities:AML/CFT Governance: • Maintain and enhance Heartland’s AML/CFT framework, including the Risk Assessment, Programme, and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Standards, ensuring robust change control and effective operational implementation. • Monitor regulatory and intelligence updates (e.g, Supervisor guidance) to assess and action necessary changes or clarifications. • Lead and support responses to assurance activities, including section 59 independent audits and Supervisor-led reviews.Centralised Operational Oversight: • Oversee transaction and account monitoring processes, sanctions screening, Politically Exposed Person (PEP) screening, and Prescribed Transaction Reporting (PTR) to ensure effective risk management. • Review escalated activity and prepare Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) in line with regulatory expectations. • Own and manage Heartland’s transaction monitoring system, continuously reviewing AML/CFT rules and parameters and recommending enhancements as required. • Lead key system transition projects involving transaction monitoring and PTR platforms. • Manage and conduct high-risk customer reviews, ensuring timely and accurate risk assessments. • Provide guidance and support on complex or escalated AML/CFT-related queries across the business.
