As the Director of First Year and Retention Initiatives, I have the privilege of leading a team dedicated to ensuring every student’s transition to college is both meaningful and sustainable.I oversee programs that strengthen belonging, leadership, and student success—beginning with our leadership development scholarship program, which empowers students to grow through mentorship, community engagement, and personal development. Alongside an incredible team, I guide initiatives that touch nearly every corner of the student experience:An Associate Director who leads our orientation, family engagement, and the Miss UNA program, helping new students and families feel at home while celebrating the pride and tradition of our campus.An Assistant Director who uses data and programming to shape evidence-based retention strategies that truly make a difference.And an Administrative Assistant who keeps our office moving forward with efficiency, care, and a genuine passion for service.Together, we build connections that last well beyond the first year—because student success isn’t just about getting to college, it’s about thriving once you’re here and crossing the finish line strong.
