About Jose Otavio Sorbara

I am a Poultry Nutritionist with a Ph.D. who transitioned into a business executive role in the feed additive and premix business, bringing over 20 years of experience in the area of Animal Nutrition.Until July 2023, I served as the Global Innovation Lead for Poultry at DSM, where I have successfully launched cutting-edge feed additives, including the 4th Phytase Generation (HiPhorius), first-ever 2nd generation protease (ProAct 360), and the 1st Precision Glycan (Symphiome Poultry) driving significant revenue growth and profitability across the globe.My leadership skills are evident through my role in leading six scientists directly in China, Europe, and the US. I was also very often collaborating online and face to face with regional teams and Country General Managers sharing global best practices and visiting customers together with them. My strong strategic and commercial mindset allows me to drive growth, consolidate business lines, and cultivate strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.I have a track record of developing new products and concepts from inception to commercial success, which is exemplified by my contributions to patents, intellectual property applications, and numerous peer-reviewed publications. One specific instance of this success can be seen in my work within the protease business. I thoroughly enjoyed contributing to the application of this product in its 1st generation. During the development of its 2nd generation, I had the opportunity to be the scientific lead and business lead in different phases of the project. I have an international experience of almost four years working and living with my family in Switzerland.I am committed to ongoing industry advancements, evident in my participation in conferences, committees, and academic research.
