About Job Thies

From firefighter to accountant, my journey in life hasn’t been the most conventional. I grew up just outside of Houston with an entrepreneurial spirit, where as a child I attempted to start multiple businesses. From lawn care and landscaping to commercial window washing, some were more successful than others. After high school, I sought out an exciting career where I could help people while leveraging the work ethic instilled in me as a child. This is when I discovered firefighting, a strange blend of systematic problem solving and spontaneity. I joined the fire academy, began volunteering at the station, and after graduating landed a spot on a duty crew and from there a full time position. During those couple years, I learned a lot about serving the community, hard work at any hour, and working as a team, sometimes when lives depended on it. After a year of firefighting full-time, I realized that although the adrenaline and my crew made the career exciting and desirable, I wanted to grow more intellectually. This prompted me to further pursue my education at Baylor University where my childhood interest in business led to a Bachelors and Masters in Accountancy and CPA. Upon graduation, I returned to Houston to restart my career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Public Accounting. I was blessed to be a part of a great team serving a large and complex fortune 500 client in the energy infrastructure industry. I continued to learn in an ever-changing environment filled with new challenges. My time in public accounting exposed me to the leading minds and technology in the industry. After a couple years in public accounting I went to work for a financial consulting firm where I spent four years helping businesses solve their financial and accounting problems. When I’m not working, I try to fill some of the adrenaline missing from my life with everything from snorkeling with sharks, to skydiving, to travelling with my wife. On a more regular weekend you can find my wife and I cheering on Houston and Baylor Sports, or out enjoying everything Houston has to offer, all along my journey with Christ. He continues to lead my life, and I do my best to follow.
