About Joao Moreira
Intense days and endless nights spent coding compilers and OSes, brushing bits, and crashing the core.I\'m a generalist low-level computer hacker, half-security/half-toolchain engineer who takes lots of joy in designing novel features, mitigations, static analysis methods, and fuzzing engines. I\'m also an open-source enthusiast with contributions to LLVM, Linux Kernel, and other projects.I currently work as a Principal Security Engineer at Microsoft\'s Azure DevSec team.Some open-source stuff I designed from scratch are FineIBT, which is a hardware/software hybrid Control-Flow Hijacking mitigation that has a bunch of advantages when compared to full-software solutions (ask me about it!); and libpulp, which is a live-patching library focused on user-space processes. I\'m also happy to have contributed to KCFI, which is the Linux kernel\'s software control-flow integrity mechanism. If you are curious, I have been around bragging about these guys in a few open-source conferences, including the Linux Security Summit 2021 and Linux Plumbers 2022.Since we came this far, worth mentioning that in the past I had the honor to speak at a set of very cool conferences that include Black Hat Asia, Linux Plumbers, SUSE Labs Conference, EkoParty, H2HC, and Linux Developers Conference.
