ABOUT JOANNIE WILLIAMS

I have been a resident of Las Vegas for over forty five years. When I moved to Las Vegas, the population was less than what the current enrollment of the Clark County School system is today. I remember when we left upstate New York, all of my friends thought we would live in a hotel, eat room service for every meal and I would never have to make my bed again. Never in my family’s wildest dreams did we think that we were going to a place that would someday become the fastest growing city in America. A great deal has changed from the grandiose entries of the famous four corners, where the Dunes, MGM Grand, Caesar’s Palace and the Barbary Coast Hotels once stood. Although Caesar’s is still there, the magical fountain entrance is not. This fabulous city went from ladies wearing evening gowns, men in their tuxedos and the only way to get front row seats at a show was to tip the Matre’D a $20 bill. In contrast, our $.99 buffet is still going strong at Circus Circus. Today we are casual, family oriented, and order our tickets on line and have random seat assignments. We have some of the most fabulous chefs and hotels that are large enough to be cities within themselves! As they say, “this is progress”.
