ABOUT JOANNE THOMAS
I’m a passionate and results-driven Technical Design Manager at BT, leading the successful delivery of SDWAN Transition and Transformation Programmes. With over two decades of experience in the telecoms and networking industry, I currently manage and coach a high-performing team of Senior Network Designers, driving innovation and excellence across C2M Product Development and Complex SDWAN project delivery.My journey with BT began at age 18 through a 3-year Engineering Apprenticeship, laying a strong foundation in technical expertise and problem-solving. I progressed into LAN/WAN 2nd Line Support, where I honed my operational and troubleshooting skills. In 2010, I embraced a new challenge, project managing the rollout of Super Fast Broadband across the UK—an initiative that transformed national connectivity.In 2014, I returned to my technical roots as a Senior Network Designer, designing and delivering bespoke WAN/LAN solutions for customers. This role deepened my strategic design capabilities and customer focus, paving the way for my transition into Leadership.Today, I’m committed to Continuous Improvement, Team Development, and Delivering Measurable Value through PQCD metrics. I thrive on solving complex challenges, mentoring future leaders, and shaping the future of network transformation.Outside of work I am an incredibly proud Mum to two wonderful boys age 17 and 13 who are by far my greatest achievement.
