ABOUT JOANNE PERDUE
I am an architect and sustainability strategist with over thirty years of experience in sustainable building practices and change leadership for planetary health. As a values-based leader, I have led diverse sustainability and climate action initiatives, developing impactful policies, partnerships, and funding models to achieve targeted outcomes. My work encompasses both individual projects and large-scale public sector and national not-for-profit initiatives.During my tenure as Associate Vice President of Sustainability at the University of Calgary (20••••24), I played a key leadership role in elevating the university to a top 5% global ranking for advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and establishing it as the host institution for the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network in Canada. I also established the Elders’ Circle for Sustainability, which focuses on developing sustainability learning and action pathways based on Indigenous ways of knowing, connecting and doing.As a registered architect since 1991, I specialize in sustainability and regenerative design, contributing to multiple award-winning projects. I am honoured to have received a Canada Green Building Council Lifetime Achievement Award, a US Green Building Council LEED Fellow designation, a Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Fellowship, and to be a Canada Clean50 honouree. I am a past board member of the Canada Green Building Council and actively participate in various boards, committees, and award juries, and I currently serve as co-chair of the RAIC’s Committee on Regenerative Environments.
