ABOUT JOANNE MILLIGAN

I started in IT back in thrown in at the deep end when the IT guy walked out just before the millennium bug. It was a baptism of fire, and with no Copilot or modern tools to lean on, I had to figure things out myself.Back then it was all about on-site servers, Exchange 5.5, and POP mail servers. I learned by doing, building up my knowledge through real-world experience. I spent 20 years working across two MSPs, each for a decade, gaining deep insight into what works, what doesn’t, and what customers really need. Over time, I saw the shift in expectations, people wanted more than just a service ticket. They wanted a partner.When Microsoft 365 and cloud services came along, I saw the opportunity and ran with it. Since 2010, I’ve delivered over 200 email migrations. I’ve worked through every challenge, including the lack of a direct migration path from Exchange 2007 to Microsoft 365, which meant upgrading to 2010 first just to get there.That kind of hands-on experience still shapes how I work today. I embrace change, stay ahead of the curve, and focus on solving problems in a way that makes a real difference.In 2023, following a previous acquisition, we launched Layer 4. It came from listening to what customers really wanted, more than just being treated like a number. They wanted a partner who understood their business and delivered with care. That’s what Layer 4 is all about, and that’s what we’ll continue to deliver: personal service, deep expertise, and a commitment to doing things properly.
