About Joann Dickey
Born and raised in Michigan, JoAnn Dickey is a graphic designer who now lives and works in Cleveland, Ohio. She has over 20 years of experience. After 7 years as the head of the Graphic Design Department at the Cleveland Museum of Art she shifted to higher education and was the Design Manager in the Marketing Department at Case Western Reserve University. In May of 2010 she started her own business, JoAnn Dickey Design, and is now an independent designer specializing in publication and magazine design. She also focuses on book design, branding, annual reports, higher education, and arts organizations. She is always up for a new creative challenge: ceramics, letterpress, and photography to name a few. Her current Plaid Bird line is an ongoing exploration utilizing drawing and collage on “plaids” she created in the letterpress area of Zygote Art Press. She enjoys hikes in the woods with her dog, yoga, camping, knitting, music, movies, and live theatre. She volunteers her time for local causes through pro-bono design work, as an Arts Camp counselor at Faith Lutheran Church, and other service opportunities.
