ABOUT JOANNA STRAY

I’m a User Experience (UX) Researcher with more than 25 years’ experience in conducting discovery and evaluative research methods that span the entire Human Centred Design process, in the public, private and third sector.I’ve worked both agency and client-side with multidisciplinary teams around the world, for B2C and B2B. Passionate about understanding the psychology of humans, I draw on my experience to uncover users’ needs and I work collaboratively with organisations to ensure design decisions are made based on real evidence, not assumptions.Adept at conducting both rigorous and lean, fast paced research, and comfortable with complexity, I lead research projects from start to finish. I also design and deliver external training on user research methods and usability. Clients have included Centrica, NHS, and the Directorate of Public Health Wales.I’m an expert in behavioural, attitudinal, qualitative, and quantitative research on mobile, tablet, desktop, TV and IVR. I’m highly experienced in competitive evaluation, contextual inquiry, interviews, focus groups, personas, concept testing, moderated usability testing (formative, summative, remote, lab based), unmoderated usability testing, eye tracking, surveys, card sorting, heuristic/expert evaluation, and persuasion evaluation. Clients include: Bank of England, Houses of Parliament, Sport England, Defra, Experian, HSBC, Investec, the FCA, Aviva, BBC.
