About Joanna Michelson

I am a mission-driven education leader with over a decade of experience facilitating professional learning and coaching for educational leaders, while most recently also directing a team of adult learning professionals and building leader learning content. My career has been grounded in the belief that equity-focused, empowered educators are the key to student success. Whether it’s modeling a student focus group, providing one-on-one coaching for leaders, fostering collaborative learning networks, or facilitating complex, equity-centered learning for leaders and teammates, I approach the work with curiosity and collaboration. As a career educator with rigorous academic training, I have a nuanced understanding of teaching and learning, including the design of adult and student learning experiences. I thrive creating tools and content that bring research to life for educators. I hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington.I am now seeking an opportunity where I can lead academic strategy and programs, support educator growth, and ultimately impact the lives of young people. I’m especially passionate about joining an organization working towards creating learner-centered, transformative learning experiences for young people.
