About Joanna Shafer
I am a fifth year Civil Engineering student at The University of Akron. I thoroughly enjoy being involved on campus. I am the secretary of UA\'s American Society of Civil Engineers chapter. I am also the Vice President of UA\'s Environmental Action Club. Additionally, I am involved in the Geo-Challenge Design Team, where I competed in the Geo-Shirt and Geo-Video categories. Outside of campus, I am a project manager of four construction projects within the City of Akron water service area through my co-operative experience at the Akron Water Supply Bureau. The work I\'ve done starts in the drafting phase, creating plan sheets and profiles in Civil 3D, to the completion of construction. Collaboration with upper level project managers is a necessary aspect of the work I\'ve done, which has been a great benefit to my education. Being a college student in an office of Professional Engineers means there\'s something new to learn every day.
