About Joana Amorim
I’m a mathematician and former university professor who now serves as COO at ACTEX Learning, a benefit corporation in the actuarial education space. My job is to make sure that our strategy, operations, and products all point in the same direction: helping students learn effectively and helping educators teach with confidence.For many years, I taught Mathematics at universities in Portugal, France, the UK, and the US. That experience stays with me every day. I know what it feels like to stand in front of a classroom, to design a curriculum, and to support students through difficult material. I bring that “teacher mindset” into how we design our study materials, textbooks, and eLearning solutions at ACTEX.I love working with our community of professors, authors, and content creators across the world. Together, we focus on creating resources that are pedagogically sound, digitally accessible, and genuinely helpful for actuarial students facing high-stakes exams.Although my title now says “COO,” I still think of myself as an educator first.
