ABOUT JOAN SMALDONE

My passion is impacting employees across an organization by creating learning opportunities that enable them to develop professionally and adapt to changing corporate needs. With a broad base of managerial experience, I bring an understanding of home office and field operation needs as well as insight into the cross-functional roles of staff. While I continually move beyond the status quo and raise the bar of expectations, the employees I have coached, mentored, and trained have risen to the occasion and have embraced the multi-channel learning opportunities I have implemented. Previously, Executive Director, Training & Development, Field Leader Development, at UBS Financial Services, Inc, Wealth Management America, I have held multiple leadership positions with UBS. Prior roles, from earliest to latest, include Administrative Manager, UBS / Paine Webber Branch Group, Eastern Division; Director, Service Excellence, Operations & Service US, Branch Group; Executive Director, Communications & Marketing, Branch Chief Operations; and Executive Director, Field Talent Development. My experience includes leading the training and development for 3500 support staff and 500 field leaders, managing communications and business continuity for 300 locations, delivering regional and national training programs for more than 500 attendees, and planning the marketing and communications for 4,500 Branch Group employees. Career highlights:* Achieving 97% participation in voluntary Field Leadership Training courses.* Increasing participation in regional support team workshops by 30%.* Cutting training costs by more than $500K by introducing more cost-effective methodologies.* Facilitating communications across the organization by initiating an internal Facebook channel, a newsletter, and an up-to-date brochure.
