Blue Lines was founded to help educate and communicate about contrails (or condensation trails), their impact on the climate, and the solutions to mitigate contrails. Our goal is to help speed up the road to regulation to make airlines stop their unnecessary climate impact when producing warming contrails. CO2 from aircraft engine emissions has a very low climate impact, but it lasts for centuries, while the climate impact of condensation trails is very high but only lasts a few hours. If we eliminate most warming contrails, we will, therefore, be cooling down the planet almost instantly, which we desperately need to limit global warming to well below 2.0 C, according to the 2015 Paris Agreement.
