Dr. Joachim Köhler is head of department of Fraunhofer IAIS NetMedi. He obtained his PhD degree in Communication Technologies in (TU Munich). He has been graduated with a Diploma degree from the Technical University of Aachen.His topics of interests include Speech Recognition, Multimedia Content Search, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning. His research activities are leading to next generation of multimedia search engines and affect several applications domains such as audio-visual archives, media applications, Internet, cultural heritage, biodiversity …He is/was in charge of the Coordination of 3 European projects: SHARE (Mobile Support for Rescue Forces, Integrating Multiple Modes of Interaction), LIVE (Live Staging of Media Events) and LinkedTV (Television Linked to the Web). Further he was the co-ordinator of several national projects in the area of multimedia indexing and search.
