About Joachim Scholz

With more than 25 years of experience in neurology and psychiatry, translational neuroscience, and drug development for neurological and autoimmune diseases, I am passionate about improving patients’ lives through innovative treatment approaches. I design and execute clinical programs for small molecules, biologics, and drug-device combinations. I have a track record of successfully delivering early (Phase 1, 2) and late-stage (Phase 3) development projects in both common and rare pathological conditions, including chronic pain, peripheral neuropathies, neuromuscular diseases, and major depressive disorder. I have profound scientific expertise in the peripheral and central neurobiology of diseases, and have held research faculty positions at Columbia University and Harvard Medical School. As leader of cross-functional teams, I integrate scientific insights with effective clinical strategies to achieve impactful medical innovation. I am proficient in interactions with key external stakeholders, including regulatory health authorities, key opinion leaders, and scientific consortia.
